About Us
 Our Mission Statement
MSRT is a non-profit organization providing quality ski training and race experience to young skiers. Our coaching facilitates racer development from beginner to elite alpine levels. We strive to promote an environment of healthy competition, character development, sportsmanship, and fun to all club skiers. We believe that parent support and participation is essential to these goals.
 Our Coaching Philosophy
Our coaching philosophy is to facilitate each athletes' development to her/his full potential by offering an appropriate blend of guided free-skiing, skill enhancement, technical improvement, and race course tactics in an atmosphere of fun and encouragement. Our goal is to mold outstanding citizens and expert, versatile skiers first, recognizing that, with further nurturing, many will become outstanding racers. Implementation of this philosophy varies with age and ability; younger athletes will spend more time on fun and ski development, whereas older athletes will increasingly focus on mental/physical preparation and course tactics.

NEW TEAM VEHICLE
MSRT is proud to announce it has acquired a new team vehicle.  An anonymous donor gifted MSRT a 2006 Toyota 4Runner.

MAY SLALOM CAMP - APRIL 30th - MAY 2nd.
Despite some challenging weather and snow conditions MSRT athletes had a great weekend of slalom training.  MSRT greatly appreciates the effort Brundage Mountain Resort displayed.  They did a great job of getting the trail prepared.  Athletes who trained on Friday averaged 25 runs.  Those that trained during the weekend averaged 15 plus.  This is tremendous volume for the month of May.  Thank you to all of those who supported the first weekend of MSRT's May Slalom Camp.

MSRT ACCEPTING TEAM DEPOSITS - REQUIRED
The McCall Ski Racing Team is committed to keeping the quality of its programs.  In order to help us prepare for the 2010-2011 season we need to know who will be returning.  We are already receiving interest from outside of our current team.  MSRT is estimating 40 J6/J7 athletes, 42 J4/J5 athletes, 12 J3 athletes, and 4-6 J1-J2 athletes.  We feel these numbers work well with our current system.

In order to keep these projected numbers we are asking ALL  MSRT athletes to pay a $100.00 deposit to reserve their spot for the 2010-2011 season.  This will allow MSRT to staff, budget, and purchase necessary equipment for each program.

OPEN WINDOW TO RESERVE YOUR SPOT IS:

ALL RETURNING AND/OR SIBLING OF RETURNING MEMBERS - MAY 1ST to MAY 31ST.
ALL NEW MEMBERS - JUNE 1ST

MSRT has been working on new and more convenient ways of paying.

1.  The Boise Open is the best way to make payments and help our team.  When using the Boise Open please use the following link:  https://www.albertsonsboiseopen.com/tickets/tickets.php?C=MSR
When using the Boise Open please type in the athletes name in the box provided "if you learned of this opportunity through a representative of the organization chosen above please list their name here."
Note:  100% OF THE MONEY SPENT ON TICKETS IS GIVEN BACK TO MSRT PLUS THE BONUS POOL.  The Boise Open bonus pool gives MSRT between $2,000.00 and $3,000.00 each year.  The more money we spend on tickets the more money we receive through the bonus pool.  MSRT is competing with other non-profits for the "pool" money.  At the end of the ticket sales (early September) a $50,000.00 pool of money is split amongst all the non profits who participated in the Boise Open ticket sales.
Example:  Here is an example on how to fill out the Boise Open web page correctly....Click on the link above.  Purchase tickets in any amount.  The money goes directly to MSRT through the Boise Open.  Team member "x" would like to pay for their child's team deposit for the 2010-2011 season.  They would click on the link above, type their athlete's name in the box "....opportunity through a representative of the organization chosen"..., purchase either four "weekly grounds tickets" or two "weekly clubhouse tickets" total equalling $100.00.  Click submit and follow the payment directions.  The Boise Open will then send a check directly to MSRT for the $100.00.  After you have paid please take a few more seconds and send in your payment confirmation.  Link: http://mccallskiracingteam.com/payment_confirmation or forward us your online payment receipt.

2.  Credit Card option on the team's website.  If you want to use this option here is the link: http://mccallskiracingteam.com/programs
There will be an "add to cart" button under the online payment.  Provide the number of athletes you are reserving the spot for and click the "add to cart" button, then follow the payment directions.  After you have paid please take a few more seconds and send in your payment confirmation or forward us your online payment receipt.

3.  Personal Check option.  Send MSRT a personal check for the correct amount to MSRT PO Box 38 McCall, ID 83638.  After you have paid please take a few more seconds and send in your payment confirmation.  Link: http://mccallskiracingteam.com/payment_confirmation

Paul Warner was crowned the IMD Downhill Champion for the 2008-2009 season.  This is a huge accomplishment for Paul.

Both Nick and Paul will be leaving our program to further pursue their ski racing dreams.  Nick will be attending Burke Mountain Academy and Paul will be skiing with the Park City Ski Team.  I would like to personally thank them both for their hard work, dedication, and most importantly their selfless attitude.  The coaching staff wishes them all the best.

MSRT is opening up Camp #1 to second year J6 athletes (based on coaches discretion).  If you are interested in having your child attend Camp #1 please contact me ASAP.  Coaches discretion is being used to make sure the second year J6 athlete interested in attending can handle adverse weather conditions, high elevation, and long ski days.

MSRT Summer Camp #2: June 24-July 3
MSRT Camp #2 is full.

MSRT Summer Camp #3: July 30-August 8
Space is still available for Camp #3.  Please contact me ASAP if you are interested.

MSRT Team Deposit for 2009-2010:
MSRT is committed to keeping the quality of its programs.  We feel that having 35 athletes in the J6/J7 program and 35 athletes in the J4/J5 program allows us to meet each child's needs.  Space in unlimited at the J1-J3 level.  However, we would like to know what J1-J3 athletes will be returning next year.

In order to meet keep these numbers we are asking all returning MSRT athletes place a $100.00 deposit to reserve their spot for the 2009-2010 season.  This will allow MSRT to staff, budget, and purchase necessary equipment for each program.  This will also allow new members to join our team.

More details can be found on the website.  We will begin opening registration to new team members on June 1st.

The 2008-2009 season has come to an end.  What a great year.  Once again we have fantastic results in every age group.  We also hosted great races.  The entire Western Region was affected by difficult weather all season.  The Western Region Junior Championships, US Nationals, IMD Championships, and the Junior Olympics all had weather challenges.  Thank you to everyone who helped host our races.  We are one of the last true "volunteer"  race crews in the country.

Staffing Changes:
Nancy Giles is stepping down as the MSRT Academic Director.  Nancy has done an amazing job with the athletes who chose to be involved.  Her record speaks for itself.  We greatly appreciate Nancy's time, effort, and dedication to this program.  She will remain as the Head J6/J7 Coach.

Those interested in the MSRT Academy for the 2009-2010 should contact me ASAP.

Pete Petry is stepping down as the Head J3 Coach.  He has accepted a similar job closer to home in Red Lodge, Montana.  Pete came on board as an intern through Rocky Mountain College.  His work ethic, passion for the sport, and patience will be truly missed.  We wish him the best of luck in his new role.

I will return as the Head J3 coach.  We will be working on hiring staff based on need.
