 Chile Camp 2007 Review
August 29th
We board the plane in Boise and joined up with the Park City Ski Team in Salt Lake.
August 30th
We arrived in Santiago at 8:00 AM and drove the hour and a half through 50 switch backs up a cliff to the ski area La Parva. This road made the road to Bogus seem like I84. Upon our arrival we quickly unpacked, jumped into our skis and enjoyed a beautiful afternoon of free skiing.
August 31
We woke up early and continued our free ski progression on extremely hard snow. In the afternoon we trained GS on a run called Paloma.
September 1st
We had an early morning GS block on Franciscano. The trail was moderate to flat but it was a great compliment to what we have been skiing at Mt Hood. After skiing the guys enjoyed a sunny day in school.
September 2nd
Sunny skies and firm snow greeted us at Pa Larva. We had an morning session of GS. We took the afternoon off.
September 3rd
High winds and colder temperatures made the training session feel more like winter. We trained SG in the morning and GS in the afternoon.
September 4th
Once again the wind was blowing hard. The guys had 5 runs on a 90 second SG. Three of the US Women's Europa Cup team joined us. It was a great day and a great experience.
September 5th
We took a much needed day off. The group traveled to Santiago to do some site seeing in the big city.
September 6th
We trained SG in the morning and then training GS in the afternoon. It was a great day.
September 7th
We trained SG in the morning and free skied on DH skis in the afternoon.
September 8th
We trained SG in the morning with the US Europa Cup girls and free skied in the afternoon.
September 9th
Once again we were lucky to train SG with the US Europa Cup girls and then we had a GS training session in the afternoon.
September 10th
The group slept in and then trained GS mid morning. The snow was firm and fast.
September 11th
Our last double session of the camp. We trained SG in the morning immediately followed by GS.
September 12th
Our last day of camp. We trained GS in the morning and then packed our bags, cleaned the house, and made our way to the airport in Santiago.
This was a great camp. Working in with Park City provided pace for our guys. Overall we had nine training sessions of GS, seven training sessions of Super G, and six free ski sessions. The weather was perfect as were the snow conditions.
