Why is this new building important to the athletes?
The new team facility will allow MSRT athletes to further pursue their love of ski racing. They will have an opportunity to watch video, tune skis, and meet with coaches on a regular basis. They will also have the opportunity to participate in a year-round conditioning program.
Will this facility be utilized by all age groups of MSRT athletes?
This will be a team facility and every athlete from J7 to J1 will have access to the building’s facilities and meeting spaces.
What is the fundraising goal?
We need $130,000.
How many square feet is the new facility and what is the cost per square foot?
The training facility will be 1,680 sq. ft. and it will cost approximately $75.00 per sq. ft to construct.
When will construction start and finish?
The board will vote to proceed with the acquisition of the training facility when it has secured the necessary funding. Once we achieve our campaign goals, we will start construction the summer of 2011. Our goal is to occupy the facility December 1, 2011.
What are the main elements and features of the design?
The main features include bathrooms, ski-tuning and video facilities, storage, a general meeting and lunch area, and coaches’ offices.
Why build a modular structure? Does the current design allow for another phase or future expansion?
This type of building offers the flexibility to accommodate Brundage’s future changes and MSRT’s evolving needs. The building can be moved if Brundage’s future development plans require MSRT to re-locate. The building can be added onto easily, allowing MSRT room to expand.
What are the “soft” costs? (furnishings, supplies, etc.)
The soft costs will include items such as video set-up, weight equipment and furniture. We will make an appeal for donations of some used items and raise money in the future for other necessary items. Plan on a “fund-a-need” for the 2012 annual auction!
What will happen to the current yurt?
The current yurt’s retirement is over-due. Not only is it in a severe state of disrepair, the yurt is not secure and the team has outgrown the space. All of the materials will be transferred to the new facility. We are currently identifying whether there is a re-sell market for a “very used” yurt. Otherwise, please join us for a bonfire this summer.
I donated to the new building at the auction in February this year. Why am I being asked to increase my pledge/payment?
In February of this year MSRT raised approximately $18,500 at the annual auction for the new facility. We also received approximately $2,000 at a previous fundraiser in 2008. Any past gifts that you have given for the facility will be included as part of your capital campaign pledge.
